I know it's not stated in the headers, but (as in the index) chapters 1-5 are the prologue to the story. I don't write in media res (haven't really got a feel for it) so it does take a bit of time to reach anything that might fit the idea of a goal statement.
If you like having no context for what's going on, sure? I didn't write this book intending for people to understand it if they just skip part of it, but chapters are short so someone who likes puzzles might be able to figure it out.
